Holy catfish, home prices are on the rise here in Tri Cities! The area is growing and the demand is high, so we’ve been seeing a decent increase in the past year or so.
Even with prices on the rise, Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland (and Tri-Cities’ cousin West Richland) are very much affordable.
Recently (February 2016) I compared median home prices from 3 areas in Washington.
Tri Cities Area
West Richland $272,900
Richland $256,600
Pasco $172,00
Kennewick $217,900
Seattle Area
Seattle $530,100
Bellevue $659,600
Issaquah $467,500
Maple Valley $369,975
Tacoma Area
Tacoma $214,619
Puyallup $258,719
Auburn $286,700
Lakewood $238,200
So, over here in Tri Cities, you’ll find good value in searching for homes for sale.
We’re pretty comparable to the Tacoma area, and around half the price of the Seattle area.
Of course, the West Side has its perks and quirks: Pike Place, pro sports, perpetual rain – wait, is that a perk? – and hour-long commutes to work.
Here in Tri-land I’ll admit we don’t quite have the greenery or fish markets of our neighbors to West. However, we do have rivers to play in, trails to hike, sunny days most of the year, all four seasons, and work commutes of 10 to 30 minutes in most cases. Mix that with good job opportunities and affordable home prices, I’d say we’re faring well in the Tri Cities.
